Ranthambore National Park
A more leisurely start. The staff members we had seen the night before were very attentive. I ordered fried eggs but they were delivered to the wrong table. I got them in the end but they were turned over and a bit cold.
A different bus dropped us at exactly the same place we had been picked up. We went through the security bag checkpoint and onto platform 1. We stayed in the waiting area for a while - along with the people washing and dressing!! Our train was 20 minutes late coming in at 1010.
We queued to get on and had to climb over bags etc. It was chaos. We had to chuck a woman out who has sat in our seats. As it was we ended up sat in another chaps seat - he was very gracious however. Shakeel sat opposite us. Ailsa managed to get chatting to a number of kids.
Getting off wasn’t too pressured. It was the end of the line and the engine did a runaround - so we had 20 mins to get off. We met another guide on the platform and he walked us to the coach. He got a lift with us but we didn’t see him after check in.
The hotel was down a dirt track. In the middle of nowhere. They greeted us with cold flannels and cool juice. We were given a room overlooking the pool.
Rob and I had a wander around. It was incredibly hot so I went for a swim and he carried on wandering outside. I chatted with the others.
That evening the people drinking by the pool (and smoking their hookah) were making too much noise, then the folk band started on the other side and I just found it too much. We headed for the bar where I had rum and coke- a double!
That evening was not great. At 5 to midnight I rang reception and complained about the noise. There was a buzzing sound which I thought was the doorbell but I wasn’t going to answer. The security guard then walked around the pool with his torch. An hour later they had turned their music on their phone and I rang reception again. After that there was an argument outside the door and then running up and down the stairs.
