No tigers

So we had our alarm call at 0515. Got dressed and then into the lobby. Had black tea and a cookie. We set off as it was getting light in the jeep. We travelled for about an hour before getting the guide. Then it was nearly another hour before getting to zone 9. We drove a little bit around zone 9 saw a kingfisher along with a displaying peacock before heading back. All a bit disappointing. The guide didn’t seem to be keeping an eye out for things.

Breakfast had been kept for us when we got back. Not much of a choice. A rest before getting bags back out for lunch.

Lunch was the same again. I did find that I could eat the Paneer masala but mostly stuck to steamed rice. We rested until 3pm and then went back out in the jeep. Before getting in we got a r-shirt for Aubrey just so we could get some change.

This time we went to zone 5 which was closer and went around. No signs of tiger and sadly the guide didn’t point out other wildlife. I didn’t think he was that good - but Eileen rated him higher than I did. We had a quick foray into zone 4 but no sign of any tigers. Rob and I felt the guide should have made more of what was there rather than the promise of what could be. It was over 3 hours of bouncing around in the jeep.

A nice double rum in the bar and then evening meal. We settled up before heading for bed.

As we were getting ready for bed Rob logged on and found that May had had a fall in the kitchen. Paramedics had come and Johnathan from next door had helped her. Michael had driven up to the hospital. She’s got a fractured femur and they will operate on Tuesday. She will be in for two weeks before being sent out to the cottage hospital for recuperation.
